SNACKS!!

Traveling in airports and on the road is not kid-friendly - ESP price wise!! Just like with the Busy Bag I plan and overprepare for snacks so that I have all the items I need at a moments notice.

I pack 2x the amount of snacks than I think I will ever need for the trip. You NEVER know what’s going to happen. (I do the same with travel clothes)

Firstly, I pack 3 separate groups of snacks:

1. Snacks for the way there (goes in MY carry on)

2. Snacks for while you’re there (goes in the checked luggage)

3. Snacks for the way back (goes in the checked luggage)

If i pack them all in one big bag then all the fruit snacks will be gone on the way there and I’ll be left with trail mixes for the way back.

1 Gallon bag goes into the travel bag for the way there
the box goes into checked luggage for while we are there- will be gone by the time we leave
the 2nd gallon bag will go into a box, then into checked baggage- for the way back home

One group of snacks

2 groups - one for on the way there, the other for on the way back

In each group of snacks I have 3 separate bags:

1. Individual quart size bag for kid 1

2. Individual quart size bag for kid 2

3. Gallon size for group

I label the bags with the kid names, I label the larger bag with which group it is (ie “to destination”, “at destination” , “coming home”.) and I stuff the ones going in checked luggage into boxes so things don’t get smushed and smashed. My big oatmeal cereal and protein bar boxes from Costco worked wonders!

Then when you're coming home- room for souvenirs!

Snacks I would suggest:

Individual sized olives

Baby slim Jims

Whisps

Applesauce /yogurt pouches- they are the right size for liquid on the airplane

Individual Goldfish bags

Fruit strips/snacks

Raisins

Protein bars

Cheese crackers (not peanut butter, there are so many allergies out there)

Dum Dum lollipops- for take off, landing, and distractions!

Snack Containers/Cutlery/Carriers

9 times out of 10 when you arrive at your destination there is not baby friendly cutlery/plates/items for eating.. I had to think about this and plan it out a lot because I was not about to have broken plates/shards of glass/and stress while I was eating.. So, Take the following with you when you're traveling so you have baby food gear with you during the travel times and at your destination.

Take and Toss bowls for travel- these are good because they are cheap so if you lose them, no biggie! you use them for food in the snack  bag during the travel portion of the trip but then use it for a bowl while at your destination.

Sticky plate with attachable cutlery- pack this in the diaper bag so you have it for the airport, the use of this amazing invention is self explanatory!

4 compartment Snack container- these are AMAZING!!  I give one of these to each of my kids as their travel food container
1. Perfect for portion control
2. gives 4 separate sections instead of carrying lots of different containers.
3. I use this as my tupperware when at the destination because lots of Airbnbs don't have things like that
4. I use this as on-the-go food boxes for the kids while on trips AND breakfast boxes every morning before school that they eat in the car. (It's good for on a cruise- you go to the buffet, the kids don't eat everything, you put some food in the squares- they take it to go for the day. )
5. Very durable- I've had one set for 2 years and they haven't broken and are still in excellent shape.
Ok.. Hopefully I've convinced you....

Matching surprise snack container- this is SUPER cute!! Great for car travel, distractions, and keeping a kid busy for awhile with a snack-tivity!

Snackle Box- for bigger kids, bigger snacks, or longer trips. My kids are excited to see what I've put in their snackle boxes when I pull these out!

Snail snackerThis one is a bit pricey for a snack box but super cute and will keep your kids busy and entertained for a minute.
